OTHER
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS WCCVA welcomes new Executive Director
WCCVA hires Toni McKinley as new Executive Director.
Toni brings nearly two decades of expertise in public affairs. As a registered
lobbyist based in Olympia WA since 1992, Toni is well known in a variety of
circles and has represented almost every issue to some degree, becoming an
expert in elections, energy, water, telecommunications, and agriculture.
Known as something of a human
dynamo in Olympia, she has managed media and legislative relations for
statewide issue campaigns as well as arguably setting the all-time "most
members contacted in a month during session" record while leading an historic
battle over election reform. In addition to her energy, Toni gives deep reach
into the emerging "Old Girls Club" that has come to significant power in
Olympia as Washington continues to lead the nation in electing women to public
office. Her gregarious personality and work ethic give her special access to
the team of women leaders that control many of the levels of power in Olympia
in the modern era.
Prior to WCCVA,
Toni spent 3 years as a Contract Lobbyist, representing such clients as the
Washington Council of Police & Sheriffs where she worked to create the
Local Public Safety Enhancement Account (LPSEA) for funding future benefits
($50 Million per biennium) for LEOFF 2 members. She also served as Attorney
General Rob McKenna's Campaign Manager for his re-election campaign in 2008.
Before that she spent seven years as Government Relations Director for the
Washington State Grange with primary responsibility for developing and lobbying
policy positions at the State and National levels. Particularly of note is the
work this required with the Grange membership through government relations task
forces, oversight committees and the executive board. In addition, she
published their regular legislative newsletter which was distributed to
organizational leaders on a weekly basis. As the chief strategist for a
statewide organization, she also lead the efforts on a widely successful ballot
measure (I-872) that passed with over 60% of the vote, winning every county in
the State.
We welcome Toni and look
forward to her leadership with WCCVA.
